WATERLOO 1815 TOUR ITINERARY

➤ Itinerary
(The itinerary may be adjusted depending on opening hours, traffic conditions, and the duration of your visit during the stopovers.)

  • 1-day itinerary: With only 1 day to squeeze in as much activities as you can, we strategically grouped the must-sees:

    • “Wellington Museum”, it was here that the Duke of Wellington established his headquarters on June 17, 1815, before facing Napoleon. He wrote his victory report here, and thus gave the name “Waterloo” to the famous battle.

    • Mount Lion, a panoramic view of the battlefield can be seen from its summit.

    • Farmhouse Hougoumont, held by the British Guards throughout the day in a battle within a battle. Wellington described the closing of the gates after the French had broken into the courtyard to be the single most significant event to happen during the Battle of Waterloo.

    • La Belle Alliance.

    • The Wounded Eagle Monument.

    • “Napoleon’s headquarters” farmhouse, on the night and early morning of June 17/18, 1815, the location of his breakfast conference where he told his marshals “Wellington is a bad general, the English are bad troops, and this affair is nothing more than eating breakfast”.

    • Village Plancenoit, area of heavy fighting between the French and the Prussians, visit of the Teutonic cross Monument.
